Barbara Sibley
Personal Info/Bio
After graduating from El Cerrito HS in 1973, I attended UC Berkeley and was a member of Cal's Woman's Gymnastics team (their first one!). I got my degree in Physical Education in 1977 and completed the credential program in 1978. I married in 1979 and moved to Illinois while my husband attended graduate school at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. We returned to California in early 1981, and I elected to leave teaching when there was a high number of unemployed teachers after Prop 13. I coached gymnastics at Amador Valley High School for two years. After a couple of different positions, I ended up working in the legal field for almost 20 years. I returned to teaching in 2000 and am currently the PE Dept. Chair and Athletic Director for a middle school with approximately 800 students. I have 2 daughters, Lauren, born in 1988, currently attending UC Santa Barbara and Melanie, born in 1991, in 10th grade. We live in San Leandro, California.
