4/2007 After reading everyone else's bios, I decided to update mine. Following our graduation and 2 years at CCC, I escaped to Chico State, where I floundered with no real aspirations. Then I met and married my husband, Terry, in 1979 and after working at Macy's for 2 years in Sacramento, we moved back to Chico and started a family. Caty was born in '81 and Jessica in '84.  After volunteering in their classrooms, I knew that I could make a difference in kids' lives. So I went back to school and graduated from Chico State on the Dean's List and went on to get my credential. (Pretty amazing considering what a slacker I was at ECHS. My mom still gets a kick out of my career choice!) I've been teaching for 11 years now and love it. I've taught Kindergarten, 1st, 5th, 6th and finally settled in 4th grade, my ultimate goal. Our daughter, Caty graduated from University of San Francisco and came back to Chico to become a teacher, also. Jessica graduated from UC Davis last June (we did the happy dance!) and is currently a financial advisor in Davis. She's heading to UC Berkeley this fall for grad school in Math. (She must get the math part from her dad!) Terry and I love living in Chico. He is about to retire from Wonder Bread/Hostess and I will consider retirement in about 9 years. We are regulars at the Chico State sports events and continue to root for the SF 49er's and Giants. We jog slowly in the local park with our new puppy, Sparky, practicing for another Bay 2 Breakers. No need to worry about breaking any records there, we do it for the fun! (Remember, I said we jogged slowly!) We also enjoy skiing and making the yearly trip to Disneyland. (Hint: It's more fun without the kids!)  Mom still lives in Kensington in our old house but I lost my Dad suddenly 5 years ago. UC Berkeley recently dedicated the Carl Van Heuit Sports Training Center at the campus baseball diamond.  My sister ('70) lives in Oregon and my brother ('75) is in Berkeley. I'd love to hear from the old classmates! 

6/2008 Update - Please feel free to share that Terry and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. Our two daughters graduated from college (Caty from University of San Francisco, Jessica from UC Davis and Grad school at UC Berkeley).  I am still loving teaching elementary school here in Chico and Terry is soon to retire from Wonder Bread/Hostess Cakes. We take our 49er football and Giants baseball hobbies seriously and throw in some skiing during the winter. I hope that all of my fellow Gauchos are in good health and prospering in life.
