2023 - Story of life after high school..... After graduating in the middle of my class from ECHS, I went on to the University of Contra Costa Community College where I eeked out an associate's degree in Information Technology and headed to the Silicon Valley to make my fortune. Well, that did not happen, but I did ok. I got married, bought a house, bought some sports cars, and got a divorce. I went to work for the Contra Costa Times, and got some new friends. I did some camping, learned to water ski, bought a truck and a boat, and got remarried. We had 4 kids and realized how expensive it was to live in the bay area and raise kids. Sold all the California “stuff” and moved to Northern Kentucky. Bought a nice big house in Kentucky. The early 2000s were rough on everybody. I worked for 3 different companies that all went out of business. Lost the house in KY and got a job in West Virginia as Director of IT Warehousing for a large clothing retailer. West Virginia turned out to be a pretty good place to raise kids. I coached soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. I love kids, parents not so much. The company closed, I got a divorce (must be me) and found a job outside of Atlanta. I focused on my kids (from afar), my health (Golds Gym), and making my alimony and child support payments. I ended up working for a big company that starts with a “G”. I paid everybody off and got my kids through college. My oldest, Kelly works for a music entertainment company in New York City. My son Ryan is a golf pro at a country club outside of Memphis. My daughter Emily works for an international art gallery in New York City and my youngest plays guitar and waits tables in Columbia, SC. More to come there I am sure. I had a bout with cancer and then covid and after 45 years in IT decided to retire. I bought a tractor and a gentleman’s farm in Monroe GA with 3 acres. I am working on my 1945 farmhouse and growing my own fruits and vegetables ONLY. Come on it’s Georgia not California. I still work on cars and trucks, still love the Beach Boys, some things never change. Current projects are a 93 GMC 1Ton dually, a 2008 Mini Cooper S, and a chicken coup.
